  1. Theoretical output of generator = V x I  Watts

    Therefore   240 x 25 = 6000 watts

    Actual output  = 6000 - 900   = 5100 Watts

    efficiency   =   output / input

    % efficiency =  output / input  x 100 = (5100 / 6000)  x 100

    Efficiency     =  85 %


  2. With only output voltage and current given, we will need to assume that this is a DC generator or a single phase AC generator operating at power factor = 1.0. In those cases, power = voltage X current, 240 V X 25 A = 6000 Watts. The input power is output power plus losses or 6900 W.Efficiency = output power / input power or 6000 / 6900 = 0.87 or 87%.
