  1. Hurricnaes don't form in the arctic because a) you need warm ocean waters (at least 80F) and b) hurricanes only form in the tropics (wind shear is more supportive here).  You can get tropical systems outside of the tropics but these are classified as sub-tropical storms

  2. I think the hurricane would lose all it's power before reaching the arctic.

  3. One - hurricanes form over warm water.   Cold water Kills 'em.

Two - I think maybe you mean 150mph winds.  So now we're talking about a hurricane which could not form, therefore there would be no great 150mph wind - therefore no.  It is not possible anyone would freeze.

Now if you're talking a blizzard>>>>>  Yes!  People unprotected from the freezing cold and high wind would freeze.

  4. I'm thinking that if the wind is 150 degrees, we won't freeze...probably just the opposite.

  5. This sounds like it is from that horrid movie "Day after Tomorrow".  That as depicted cannot happen.  The cold air as described in that movie would not just descend while maintaining it's bitterly cold temperature.  The surface pressure that would be needed to allow that would be so low that one could not even breathe.  Second, the flash-freezing as depicted would not happen.  Even at that cold of a temperature, heat lost by radiation is lost slowly, thus even if the air temperature was that cold, things would still take a while to freeze.

  6. Nope that won't ever happen.  For one, it would be too cold to develop into a tropical system which needs a lot of moisture and freezing temperatures hold less water.  lol

  7. Just stop watching movies, please....

  8. Sounds a lot like the movie, "The Day After Tomorrow".

It would not be possible for a Hurricane to form in the Arctic.  One of the main fuel sources for this type of weather system would be warm water fueling convective activity.  The temperatures associated with this would not naturally occur in the higher lattitudes.

Now, a strong low pressure system could form with hurricane force winds and cold temperatures, but while it may be cold, windy and produce snow it would not be with movie like proportion.

I hope this helps answer your question.
