I'm involved in an international day with some freinds. I have the Philippines. I have to have a food and a drink from that country, I've got that.

My problem is I would like to give everyone a token gift that represent the Philippines. I can't find a store in Toronto that sells things from the Philippines, other than food. If you know a store or have an idea for something I can make I'd be greatful.

  1. I have tried this Filipino Store in California. They offer secure shopping online too!

  2. If you want a gift reflective of filipino tradition, a sungka(game), a kulintang or kudyapi (musical instruments).

If you want something amusing, a giant spoon and fork or a balut gift basket.

  3. A metal (cast iron) replica of jeepney or calesa (horse drawn cart) which you can buy from Island Souvenirs in all SM outlets. Prices of these from 150.00 to 250.00 Php.

These replicas can be displayed on top of your office or home table, and it's a unique display item which your friends will appreciate!

I brought these items to my friends in Vancouver and they were really delighted.

Jeepneys and calesas are one of the symbols of Filipino culture, from past to present.

  4. check out this on ebay...sari_sari_store_ph,they have good stuff for what you're looking for.

  5. I would have to say a Rosary, because filipinos are big on catholocism.  Religion is a huge part of our life and rosary would be something that is significantly filipino.  As a matter of fact, 89% of filipinos are catholic - largest in southeast asia.

  6. Cook a cat.  Just kidding......maybe you can give each a 1 peso coin....if you have that.
