Question:

A girl I met on the internet is waiting for me in Colombia, and I don't trust her. Should I hire bodyguards?

I am scared, because maybe it's a trap...I fear that some guys kill me when I'm there, or maybe kidnap me and ask money to my family...

Plus I've just seen the movie " Lost Hearts", with Travolta and Salma Hayek...In this movie, several women are assassinated by a man who dates them ( with Hayek's help). The movie story happens in USA... So I just can't dare imagining what can happen in a dangerous country such as Colombia..

I already sent 3000 euros to this girl, because she said she had problems. And it was my terrible mistake...

If I don't go, I would have given 3000 euros for nothing...

If I go, I may be murdered...

I just can't trust her anymore, because she forgot my birthday, and because she is always busy with her job, because her cell phone doesn't work...

Can you give me some advice ?

Should I go ? And should I hire some bodyguards, and lose much more money ?..

  1. I'm sorry but this sounds like some made up story. What a herb.

Assuming this story is true, which it isnt, If you really did send her 3000 euro, that's your problem. You arent going to get kidnapped or killed, but you did get swindled.  Your the moron for sending some girl you dont know 3000 euro.

  2. Don't you know that this country is ruled by the FARC terrorists ?

If you go, they will take you and you will stay several years in a prisoners camp in the jungle. And they will ask all money that your family has, and if your family refuse to give it they will kill you .

  3. If it was me, I would write it off to experience!!!

  4. Are you serious? J'ai vu que tu as pose la meme question beaucoup de fois. I don't think you should go. If she was appreciative about you giving her money(which was a big amount), she would have remembered your birthday and she would make time for you. Going to see her would just be another waste of money. It sounds to me like all she wanted was your money, it's sad but it happens.

  5. First of all, if you sent money to this girl, good for you because you did it with your heart and God will return this a hundred times to you!! But it was probably a scam. She has a job, she's busy with her job and she still needs money from a stranger? Definetly a scam. Your life is worth more than the money you sent.

There was an article recently on cnn.com on how an american went to Rio to meet this woman of his dreams via internet (he had sent money too) and he was later murdered between the woman and her real fiancee.

PLEASE don't go, it has been proven that over the net you will NOT find love or romance. Don't hire bodyguards, you'll be there and they can find you and do somthing bad to you. JUST DONT GO.

You sent her money and she forgot your birthday....no way man!

  6. If you don't trsut her, don't come here, but, you should come and meet some other girls. Colombia it's not insecure as you think, I have so many friend that have come from the US, Russia, Israel, South Africa, England, Spain, Finland, Panama, Brazil,  Switzeralnd, Germany, Mexico, and they surprised themselves when they come and see with their own eyes tahat Colombia is completely diferent, hire bodyguards... NO...it's a waste of money.

Maybe it is a trap, you shouldn't sent that money, is better to lose 3000 euros, than risk your own life, so forget about her, don't visit her, but visit colombia...

  7. You can't be telling the truth! This sounds so fake! Good try!!!It had to take you awhile to write all of this out! Take a nap!!

  8. Is this a joke? If not, dude you're stupid!

You never send someone money that you met on the internet (be it in Colombia, Italy or Russia). Also, your image of Colombia has obviously been distorted by the media. This country is a lot safer than you realize.

  9. don't go trust your gut and by the sounds of it  u already know so if i were u i wouldn't go u never know!!!

  10. I'd say that she is likely using you but if you still think there may be something worth exploring then why don't you fly her to your country since I presume that it would cost the same to fly her to you as it would to fly you to her.

  11. Here's a thought - don't go!

No, you would not have given 3000 Euros for nothing - it may be your life - and, hopefully, a lesson learned.

What possessed you to sent money to another county?  That is one message that is all over the internet - do not send money to someone you meet on the internet!

Cut this relationship off - NOW!

    stop being dumb!

  12. Hey man, life is about chances.  You can get murdered here or there.  I say go for the experience!  You never know, it might be the best time in your life!  I've met some Colombian girls and they are very nice.  Just keep the same precautions there as you would in here.  Meet in a public place, etc.  Try talking to her on the phone to see what's up.

  13. Look man, about the girl, well, it might be a trap...But i really dont think you should say bad things about Colombia if you hadnt gone before..I am Colombian and i tell you, Colombia is a very secured country. Those things happen in the jungles specially. I dont know if i should do this, but if you need help, i can give you a hand...this is my email address and my msn messenger andresfelipe_86@hotmail.com If you want to, we can find out together if it is a trap and everything. and about the bodyguards, i dont think you need them. But if you dont feel sure about the girl, i would want to help you..good luck and if you go, enjoy my country

  14. IT'S TOO DANGEROUS !!

YOU SHOULD GO TO POLICE IMMEDIATELY, BECAUSE MAYBE SHE IS A MEMBER OF COLOMBIAN MAFFIA !!

  15. there is a lot of bad people out there if u want to put your life at risk. my friend moms know someone that meet some on a chat room and they ask if the want to go get somehting to eat. so the went. she said the guy did seen right so she left. and the next day the guy when to jail for muder. she was luck she lelt in time or that who being her.

  16. Why did you sent money to a complete stranger? did you already buy the ticket? I hope no...well, I will say you can go if you have some sort of plan (where are you staying, if you just want to go for tourism, etc) contact your embassy and keep the emergency always with you.

But if you are only counting on her and she is not answering your calls this might be a terrible scam. I hope you get your money back...but it might no be a great idea to go in those circumstances. Good luck
