A girl/boy 14 year old party?

Question

My friend wants a party. She is turning 14 and she has usually had a pool party with just girls. This year she wants to have a girl/boy party in her basement. I think if there was just music, that would be kind of corny. I went to one with just dancing and it was boring.

I wouldn't know what games to play or anything.

Would a theme party be cool or lame?

your never to old for a theme party to be fun!

try having a place party, on the invites give different places as themes so eveyone is different, you could also ask them to bring snacks and things to follow their place culture

eg, one person is given tokyo as a place, they could dress in a kimono and bring sushi

its a great laugh to see what people come up with and you get to try new foods too

theme party would be cool depending on the theme.

if it's a girl boy party you could play basic girl boy games. unless you or your parents have a problem with it you could play spin the bottle or something like that. you could play truth or dare. you could play card games. kinda all depends on what your friend likes and her style. you could have a beach theme since she always has pool parties. besides games food is totally important especially with boys. you could have like a make your own pizza thing and you can't forget ice cream! the second best thing to the cake is the ice cream.

ok so ice cream, pizza, truth or dare, spin the bottle,  girls in bikinis and guys in shorts topped off with loud music, sounds like a party I'd go to.

Theme parties are a lot of fun and when you pick a theme it so much fun dressing like the theme, decorating for the theme and picking favors to go with the theme.  

Themes:

Movie party theme for hall or at home. Have a movie themed party. They sell decorations for this at oriental trading. com and you can also find some movie stuff on the hollywood sites I mentioned above. If at home watch a cool movie, have popcorn and all kids of candy and junk food. Make or buy pizza and have sundaes. Have a sleep over with the girls if you want. Have a dance in a hall with this theme. Have everhyone wear a movie star costume.

Luau, beach Hawaii: Orientaltrading has the coolest decorations and favors for this theme and the cutest tropical invitation in the bottle. Give your guests leis as they come in. Play Limbo, Hula hoop, and have a few grass skirts and everyone (including the guys) have to give hulaing a try. Again if you have room to do this at home or you can rent a small room. I personally think that partys are better when its just the girls. That way, you can really just be yourselfs and cut up and talk about anything!

A theme party... lame. Truth or Dare is a major plus, but make some rules. Maybe tell people to bring a bathingsuit just in case.

no theme for a 14 year old party... trust me. i guess it depends on what shes "into". like is she sexual with guys? if so play truth or dare!!!!! unless she has a boyfriend that wont be good hahha. a pool party would be good late at night if she likes a guy thats going... its a good flirting time.. but definitely truth or dare is a great game ;)

Will there be some parental supervision? Its a dangerous age for experimentation, etc. Mightn't be such a good idea if theres not a few parents around to keep an eye on things.....

You and your friend will have a blast planning for this one!  Try to have a Mystery party.  Your friend could have one of her presents mysteriously "stolen" and the guests will have to go around looking for and solving different clues.  Get creative and brain storm your own ideas.  A little advance planning can make all the difference.

Or, you could have a video party; where you put together a movie or music video.  You could give it to your friend as her birthday present.  You could make it in to a sort of time capsule, where you talk about things happening now and when she is older, she can look back into a slice of history.  

Speaking of time capsules, you could have your guests bring something to put in to a capsule for her to open when she turns 30.  For instance a current magazine, cd, photos, etc.

Theme parties are fun and most kids like to do them, even if they say that they're lame.  Dry ice is always fun.  When you mix it with water you get fog (graveyard, pirate's boat, witche's brew, etc.)

i would say don't go with a theme party- when you try to plan out everything in a party, it's just boring!  if you have a few ideas, but just go with the flow, things are a lot more fun.  people can be themselves and do what they want to do.  once everyone comes out of their shell the party will flow on it's own.  have back-up ideas, but let the party form itself, or so to speak.  good luck!

Theme party lame...\just go in the basement, have music playing really loud, and just talk to them and do things that you do when your friends, laugh, make fun of eachother, or w/e.

Why not play ten fingers, or you could do kissing games or truth and dare if you'd like.

If there are any game systems have them out, and give people the option of swimming too.

Remember.... have LOTS of food/junkfood.

I no it dont rlly help, but only YOU know, how a theme goes down depends on tha crowd,

ie. im known fo goin seriusly over tha top wit any theme,

but id say if you do go for a theme dont make it to specific, so instead of saying "rite evry1 gotta be powa rangers"

itd b betta to go for "evry1 hasta be kids tv charactas"
