A good bike to ride to work?

I need a good bike to drive to work, but the roads aren't very bike friendly with my direct route to work. If I go the bike friendly way it is going to be 5-7 miles to work. I'm pretty new to looking at road bikes, and I want something that will go pretty quick on these roads, because they are pretty long and straight. I'm a male, and close to 6 feet tall. Anybody have any suggestions on a good road bike?

You're overthinking it.  7 miles isn't very far, so just about any bike will do.  I stick with the MTB for my 34 mile round trip because there's less risk of flats.  The time difference between road and MTB isn't enough to matter, and I get a better workout pushing the heavier bike anyway.
