  1. yeah sounds good. but like everyone else says, how is your technique and are you willing to work for it? are you flexible? do you have a natural arch and turn out? those are more important to ballet than the looks, seriously.

  2. To be a ballerina you have to have everything, it sounds like you have the right body shape. You also have to have turnout, great arches and a high instep,High jumps and to be able to do the splits all three ways and to have high extensions, so flexibility is a big one.I just did an audition and those were the things they were looking for.

  3. A lot of people think that there is a primo body for ballet. It is true that when looking to professionally dance you will most likely need to fit a certain type, but if your just dancing, or beginning to dance, you shouldn't worry to much.

If you are looking to professionally dance you will need to be happy with yourself to begin with. Look at yourself in the mirror and just... except yourself. Dancers tend to be at the highest risks for getting an eating disorder, and have a high chance of dying or hurting themselves. Most dance companies will look for someone with long legs, a smaller butt, smaller b*****s, a flat tummy, a high arch, and overall a confident person.

If you are younger though a lot of things will change when going through puberty. Girls b*****s will grow, their legs and torsos will change, they will get moody, and they tend to hold onto more weight. You never know what your shape will be once you stop growing.

In the end though you shouldn't be worried about what you look like, and your body shape. Anyone can dance, all it takes is practice!! Ballet is supposed to be fun, and shouldn't make you feel bad about yourself or uncomfortable. Good luck!

  4. I think you have been reading Balanchine's description of an ideal figure.  I'd worry more as to whether or not I had flexibility, line, extension and athletic abiblity, coupled with an absolutely burning ambition to dance.  You've got to do better than look good while "trying" to dance ballet - you've got to look good WHILE DANCING ballet.  Good luck

  5. I'd worry about the more important things.

Are you limber? Are you coordinated? How's your balance? How is your posture?

  6. Yes, I wouldn't worry about appearances. It sounds like you have a great body for ballet, but worry about being flexiable and well-ballanced. You know, hula hoops help your waist and hips tremendusoly for any sort of dancing.
