A good car in which to transport a baby and girlfriend yet one which remains sporty?

Question

My G/f has informed me that i need to sell my BMW Z4 in exchange for something more practical to transport her and sprog in (whose name is Emily if your interested).

up to £25K.

I was thinking maybe Golf GTI? or perhaps a BMW 135i?

other suggestions appreciated.

i just done the same thing. got a bmw compact 325ti sport. works for me.

peugeot 307 hdi small like the golf plenty of room like the golf good looking in black and silver like the golf but nowhere as expensive as the golf.

up to 25K can buy u alot of car these days, astra vxr is a good shout, focus st, any sporty hot hatch is good really

Face it, your sporty days are over, you'll be driving a Volvo estate or a people carrier before you know it.

Stick with BMW, that 1 series is a gret looking car but you may need to step up to a 3 series 4 door.  

If new isn't in your price range go for CPO.

vauxhall astra vxr is a great car im planning on getting 1 very soon and i have 2 children. there big enough to fit the pushchair in etc its a 2 littre but still faster then most in its class including the golf so its cheaper to run and they have a good ncap rating. and you will have quite a bit left over from your 25 000 budget to spend on the child  so your girlfriend will b happy.

mate if i had 25k the vectra VXR 2.8 V6 turbo pushing 279 bhp yes awsome(the cops drive them) huge car lots of equiptment great ride huge boot space for the prams etc iv got 3.2 V6 GSi 2 babies Cai 2 Lowri 1 if you want to know and its plenty of room but it will depreciate badly so buy used save 10k and have a good holiday / or theres a Ford Mustang , Vauxhall Monaro used around 25k stand out from the crowd.

You now have the responsibility of the safety of Emily so the last thing you should be thinking of is 'sporty' driving.

A baby daughter is much more fun than a sports car so think about getting something sensible (to fit push chairs and all the baby baggage) and just enjoy you're little girl.

I have a mazda RX8. I can fit the baby's pushchair in the boot and her car seat in the back. It has four doors aswell, so no mucking about with moving seats. The car is rapid aswell!

Golf GTI sounds good - but the Laguna (sporty version is excellent too).

Things to consider when buying a car with baby/small child in mind:

1. make sure it's a 5 door - for speed of access and safety.

2. make sure the boot is big enough to take a pram (not just a stroller (you'll need both by the way)) and shopping.

3. if the baby's car seat is going to go in the front passenger seat at any time - you'll need to have the airbags removed/disabled.

I drive a GTI and I love it. It's got amazing safety ratings for your girlfriend and baby, has plenty of room for a car seat, and still has the appearance and pick up of a sports car.

Then again, I'm not in the market for BMW's, but if I could afford one I would definitely take up the chance!

These cars are in the USA and are under $25.  I'm not sure about the UK

Mazdaspeed3 - is a 5 door hatchback and has 260 hp

VW GLI over GTI b/c it is a 4 door sedan based off of jetta.

Honda Civic Si Sedan not coupe

All go to 60 mph in a 6.7-7 sec's and get good mpg

The Ford Fusions are a decent car.I have driven them and they have alot more get up and go than some other sedans I have driven.They are what you might call a "sleeper" because they look like a somewhat sporty sedan but they will haul *** when you step on the gas.They are also on the cheaper side and are supposed to be very reliable...

dont go vauxhall mate, you'll regret it, i know the feeling, i was forced to sell my porsche 911 carrera Gt, still yearning for the sporty s**y look i went to my local audi garage and came home a very very happy man! i got an Audi A6 3.6Ltr quattro S-line and there's plenty of space for the kiddies and plenty of extra's and toys for the driver... mine only had 21,000 miles on the clock! BARGAIN! due to the fuel prices!
