  1. dunkin donuts

  2. Every other block seems to have a family owned bakery on the corner. Just walk around for 5 minutes and I'm sure you'll stumble across a few bakeries.

    As for cheap....

NYC and cheap is basically an oxymoron .

  3. There are a million little donut/bagel shops in nyc, most are not chains. Check out the areas where you will be living, and if worse comes to worse, there are a lot of dunkin donut shops

  4. Reasonable prices?  You're moving to NYC--there ain't no such thing there as "reasonable prices."

  5. There are so many donut shops/bakeries.  You can always go to Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kreme.  But my absolute favorite would be from Le Pain Quotidien.  All their baked goods are amazing, but the French Cream Donut kills the competition.  You have to try it.  There are locations all over the city, google them for the locations.I have to warn you though---it's about $2.75 but SO worth it.

And the people claiming that you can't get anything cheap in NYC must be tourists who don't know the city well.  I know the donut I recommend is anything but cheap, but I even agree it's ridiculous, but you have to try it at least once, it is no DUnkin Donuts donut.  But if you know where to go, you can get the most amazing deals in NYC.  (Obviously Le Pain Quotidien isn't one of these places)
