A good concert camera?

I'm going to buy a DIGITAL camera i can take to concerts and i was just wondering what kind of features i should look for.

preferably under AU$400,

and also

what is a good photo editing program i can use

  1. IF you are actually allowed to take a camera into a concert, then you'll be battling low light conditions.

    If you only have a little Point&Shoot camera, you will NOT be able to get good photos. They will all be very noisy and probably blurred.

    Concert photography is very challenging, even for a pro with good gear.

    You will need a DSLR with a GOOD quality, fast lens, otherwise your  photos will never be what you would like them to be.

    As to editing program: the best is Adobe's photoshop, but it is expensive. It's smaller "cousin" is called Photoshop Elements and is actually rather good value for money. If you want something free that doesn't look as nice, but has features somewhere between PS and Elements, you can download the gimp (www.gimp.org). It has a steep learning curve, you'll have to set aside a big chunk of time to read tutorials and study the program, but it is worth it.
