My family and I want to leave the area we live in right now...we'd like to move into a state where we can raise chickens and cows, but not have to worry too much about any natural disasters. our first idea was Oregon, but I'd like to hear about any others. The home must have at least 4 bedrooms and I would love if there were trees (But this doesn't have to be mandatory)

  1. Upstate New York.   We have no natural disasters,  Yes we get snow in the winter, but we can handle that.  Rural area and almost everyone is raising something.  We have Christmas Trees.  Property is inexpensive, schools are great  and taxes low.  No crime, most towns do not have police depts but rely on state troopers.

  2. I would suggest you seriously consider the Piedmont region of North Carolina.  No natural disasters - we are far enough away from the coast that hurricanes don't come inland this far and tornadoes are very, very rare.  We are in the foothills of the Smoky mountains, near the Blue Ridge parkway and we have thousands of trees, great land, pretty inexpensive housing and very friendly people!

We have a 3000 sq ft house with a 2 acre pond and 6 total acres, with 3 of them being wooded.  Our house cost $240,000 and it is very nice.  Our neighbor raises chickens and goats.

  3. You may want to check Amish County in north central Ohio.  Counties such as Holmes, Wayne, Knox, and Coshocton.  It is beautify country and the only natural disaster you may get is snow in the winter.  They have excellent school systems and you are not too far from major shopping areas.
