  1. was and still is...william jefferson clinton....bringing to the white house the lowest benchmark for ethics honesty and candxor NEVER TO BE BREACHED.

  2. It all depends on who you ask. If you ask Democrats it might be Reagan. It might be G.H.W. Bush.

If you ask Republicans I'm sure you would get a good share of Clinton votes as well as quite a few Carter votes.

My point is ..... nearly all presidents we've had from the 50's on have had their bad and good points. It all depends on your frame of reference as well as the world circumstances at the time they were in office.

    Kev

  3. Jimmy Carter has to be in line with Bill Clinton. Both losers in their own way. In office and also out of office they don't improve.

  4. According to first source Nixon and Carter tied at 24%

According to second source Truman at 22%

Regarding Hoover -- he was unpopular but they weren't doing opinion polls when he was in office.

Regarding Clinton, he left office with the HIGHEST approval rating, 65%

  5. Not Clinton. The conservative talk radio hosts really tried to grind him up, but his popularity has stood the test of time (well, at least until all those blunders on his wife's campaign trail-- whatta goof -- but anyway...). And the economy glowed white hot under his presidential direction. very good years, the Clinton years.

Reluctantly, I say Reagan. Reluctantly, because I know how unPC it is to blast old Dutch. He was anti-union, pro-the kind of dorks who are wrecking the US economy bidding on and reselling gas right now -- day traders. He was pro-outsourcing. Most the heavy manufacturing left the US under his regime.

He believed to the end in voodoo or trickle down economics, which history and human psychology has shown again and again does not work. The rich get rich, and buy themselves better toys, while telling those responsible for their wealth to get lost.

He dallied in war, in gutting the social safety net, and was a sort of pioneer in substanceless sloganeering political discourse.

A horrible, terrible, wretched president... but probably a fairly nice old guy, if you knew him.

  6. Bill Clinton hands down the man was a total waste of air and the most immoral man ever in our White House and then you Democrat fools couldn't wait to elect his wife the woman that had no backbone and let her husband make a fool of himself and her. Let's just face it the man was a scumbag and history will show he messed up this country far more then any Bush Sr. or Jr. ever have or ever will. But that is just my opinion I could be wrong.

  7. In the last century, it was Herbert Hoover. (1929-33)  He was blamed for causing the Great Depression, and not doing enough to help starving, homeless Americans.  People lived in shanty towns, of cardboard boxes, and temporary shelter, tents, and called them "Hoovervilles".

Hoover also had the military forces clear out "Hoovervilles" built on the Mall area in Washington.  They were mostly unemployed WWI veterans who marched on Washington demanding payment of bonus's that they had been promised.   Hoover said the government could not afford to pay them money owed.

Our current Bush also has not done enough to manage health care for wounded War on Terror  Vets, with poor after service health care, neglected treatments  for mental illness, rejected disability payments, the list goes on and on.

Most recently rejection by both Bush and McCain of a new, better GI Bill to improve education benefits for Vets.

BTW, Hoover was one of the most prepared, most experienced Presidents we ever had.  He had many years in public service, including helping to win World War One, with his great administrative abilities.

But, a person or President that doesn't care about the suffering of his own country, gets slammed.

So, Hoover, like Bush are both in the same mold, if you ask me.
