It's a very overbuilt region of the island. And the choice of hotel depends greatly on your budget and your age and what you want.

The hotels near the beach are more expensive and generally cater to families.

I stay at the Iberostar Althene (I think that was it - it was terrific). Check out the Iberostar website - they've got good deals.
