A good idea or just hold off?

I'm the type of person who has tons of ideas, but not always the time and the know-how to carry through. Recently I hatched an idea for a bath and body line that I'm sure would be welcome on a site like Etsy. My problem is that I don't really have the time to learn to develop a bath and body line right now. A friend of mine said that there are plenty of people out there that have the knowledge I'm seeking, but don't know how to market and organize their business. She suggested that I try to find a partner to go in with, one who can handle the product production while I handle the marketing and sales end. Is this a good idea? Where would I even look for a partner?

  1. If you're really interested in this specific idea - first go and work in the business.  Find a store near you and try to get a job there.  Understand what products sell; what lines make money and why; and if there's enough margin in this type of business.

Once you have more than the idea - in other words some experience, it will be easier first to to decide if you want to pursue the idea.  Then see if there is an industry association where you can meet manufacturers and try to set up a business relationship (sell your idea to them, or go in partnership, or ?)

  2. I have one word....lol

    Mercedes!!!!!  LOL

  3. You have a single idea- no contacts about knowledge or sales to help you or product production- learn more info, gain more contacts then ask more questions- until then yuo are at a dead end. In other words- hold off.
