  1. Nothing beats a Harley.

  2. It really depends on what style of bike you are looking for.  I would stay off of the highway with a 250 cc bike, as it would lack the power or weight for stability at the higher speeds.  Perhaps something a bit larger, say, 400-500 for a street bike, or 650-850 for a cruiser.  If you are looking for highway travel, I would advise against a dual sport.

    Good luck, and happy riding.

  3. A motorcycle of 500-600cc could adequately do the job.

  4. Diane M, that only depends on what you want to do with it. If you want to go off-road too then you're in trouble. :-)

As far as the original question, for a first bike I would keep it to a 500 to 600 cc bike. They have enough power to get the job done and will have better fuel efficiency then a big bike. As far as which bike that depends on what style of bike works for you. Are you looking for a cruiser, a crotch rocket style, or a dual sport?

  5. a ninja 250 would be extremely good on gas....

but with motorcycles you'll find the cc pretty indicitave of MPG...

i.e. 150cc and less get phenonemal gas milage, 200-250cc get great gas milage, etc etc...
