I wanted to know a reputable place to learn this style ( preferably somewher on the Eastern Coast, because I live in N.C. ). I'm an outdoorsman, and a mediocre fighter, but I can use a knife really well. I just want to learn a more orthodox style, and get better.

  1. There is only two schools that I know that is 'reputable' and well known in Filipino Martial Arts (Arnis,Esxrima,Kali, etc) in North Carolina( I am assuming N.C.). Here is a link to FMA digest a website dedicated to FMA and lists schools that are all over the world,http://www.fmadigest.com/Database/school... in this are the only schools in North Carolina that I know of, there are probably groups there that may not advertise. Here is a site that is dedicated to FMA, http://fmatalk.com/index.php?referrerid=... Members here may be able to help you find a group that practice near your area; I too am a member.

And by the way, there is no proof that Escrima(Spanish word) is related to Chinese martial arts (in fact it is more related to Spanish espada y daga-Sword and dagger) it is more influenced by the Spaniards which colonized the Philippines.

Good luck to you and hope you find the truth.

    Phil
