  1. I don't know where Port Douglas comes into the Gold Coast - it's about two thousand kilometres north!

There are some very expensive places to stay on the Gold Coast, and then some more moderately priced ones.  The choice will depend on your budget, and the type of holiday that you prefer.

If you are a young person that prefers nightlife and shopping, and don't mind the touristy things, then opt for Surfers Paradise - but expect to pay a bit more for accomodation there.

If you prefer a quieter time, but still want to have access to transport to get you to places like Surfers, then try Broadbeach or Southport - the accomodation may be a bit less expensive too.

If you have a young family then somewhere like Tallebudgera is a good choice.

If you are willing to see the non-touristy places on the coast you'll find it rewarding and so much cheaper eg: the big theme parks cost a bomb to get in and are miles away from the actual coast, on the way to Brisbane.

I personally prefer the Northern New South Wales beaches, or the Sunshine coast - north of Brisbane.  The Gold Coast has become very tacky.

  2. Definitely Port Douglas, it is a beautiful place!!

The Great Barrier Reef is there, its so amazing, have a look . . .

    It is truely amazing!!

  3. Broad Beach very central to Pacific Fair the beach, Casino.  Good apartments BeachHaven.  Good place to eat Marios at The Oasis Shopping centre.

  4. legends hotel definately.

5 star, right across from the beach, next to the shops too.

WTF port douglas ?? great barrier reef ??

okay obviously you dont live in qld, because both of those places are about 5 HOURS north of gold coast :\\

  5. Diamond Beach great pools across from fab shopping & Draculars theme resturant amazing mod rooms

    & a fair price

  6. The important piece of the jigsaw is what do you plan on doing?  And do you have a car or are you relying on public transport?

If you plan on spending most of the time at the theme parks or shopping (at Pacific Fair for example)... then Broadbeach or Surfers Paradise.

If all you want is a cheap holiday, sitting in the sun and are happy to catch public transport to get around, then try further down the coast... say Mermaid Beach, Burleigh Heads, Palm Beach, etc.

If gaming is your penchant, then (obviously) you want either to be in Broadbeach (access to Jupiter's), or Coolangatta/Tweed Heads (access to Twin Towns).  Although any SLSC has pokies.

If eateries is part of the holiday... (again) the Broadbeach area and Surfers Paradise have many fabulous restaurants; or further south to Coolangatta/Tweed Heads.  You'll find lots of restaurants within walking distance of both these areas.

If you don't care... then find a place that is affordable.  The beaches are great all along the coast; and public transport is handy to everything major.

If you want recommendations... my personal favourites are south of Broadbeach/Surfers Paradise.  The prices are cheaper the further south you go... until you hit the border.  Coolangatta/Tweed Heads are a bit higher than (for example) Burleigh Heads or Palm Beach.

    Have a fantastic time.

(8-more sleeps and this "Mexican" will be up there again... thawing out!!!)

  7. WTF Port Douglas

    Burleigh heads is da bomb

  8. Hello! Personally, I would recommend somewhere around Broadbeach or Surfer's Paradise. It's right along the beach, near malls, clubs, restaurants etc. There is also a lot of accommodation to choose from and you won't get bored!

I swear, this is the best place on the Coast to stay, especially if you're just visiting.

    Hope you have fun!
