Question:

A good putter?

I'm looking for a good putter. I know it's all about how it feels but I still want to know any suggestions anyone may have. So far I've tried the Taylormade Rossa Spider and the Yes! Golf C Groove Marilyn. The spider feels great and works and so does the Yes!

  1. I use a taylormade putter because I like the balance.

Some people change their putter as often as some people change their sox, not realizing that it is the Indian, not the arrow.   If you love your putter stay with it.  Putters always get better with practice.

Tiger Woods has used the same putter since 1997.

  2. You will get as many suggestions as there are folks who will answer this.   Try as many as you like and pick what feels best to you.....its the only way to pick a putter anyway....what feels best to you!

  3. Cant go wrong with a ping putter  the best in my opinion

  4. Try them all till you find one that feels goods and suites your eye...

  5. CRAZ-E-ONE

  6. There are many different putters out there but the one i prefer the most are Odysseys. They have a really soft putter face and are a perfect length and angle of the ground.

  7. Try the new mallet hybrid putter from Rife. You could be surprised. OR go with a scotty. At least your friends will be impressed

  8. of the putters ive tried my favorites are the Medalist classic, Wilson Augusta, and the oddessey sabertooth. try them out.

  9. The best putter is the one that gives you the best feedback or feel.  Putting is mostly about hitting it the right distance or speed so the feel is the most critical thing.  On slow greens a heavier putter is probably better and on real fast greens a lighter putter allows you to make a more agressive stroke.

  10. Try them all. A good putter is good to different players. For me, the heavier the better it seems.

I love the Ping Redwood Anser and the Odyssey Sabertooth.

  11. Pick a putter you can afford and then have a club fitter make sure the length and lie of the putter are right for your position over the ball.  Then go out and spend 3 hours a week practicing with it. Remember,  practice doesn't make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect!!

Changing putters every month or two is for the fickle and the professionals.  I have an old Ping Anser 2i.  It's amazing how great that putter is after a month's worth of practice!!  I pick a simple practice green and putt 4 balls(one each positioned at North, South, East, and West) from 5 feet, then 4 from 10, then 4 from 15 feet and eventually get to 35 feet.  Then I start moving back closer to the hole in 5 foot increments.  a successful practice round is when I've holed at least one putt from each distance.  Maybe I'll be happy with getting the longer putts within a foot or so.

  12. I would go try them all but look for the older putter they are better that the new ones

  13. I used a standard putter, but just recently I switched to a belly putter and I absolutly love it, put so much better, try it out.
