  1. I believe that the two quotations below, each spoken by Atticus Finch, are about prejudice and should serve you well.

Atticus Finch is speaking to the jury (the jury that ultimately convicts his client) in the context of his closing statements in defense of his client Tom Robinson.

"The witnesses for the state have presented themselves to you gentlemen, to this court, in the cynical confidence that their testimony would not be doubted, confident that you gentlemen would go along with them on the assumption-the evil assumption-that all N*groes lie, that all N*groes are basically immoral beings, that all N*gro men are not to be trusted around our women, an assumption one associates with minds of their caliber.  Which, gentlemen, we know is in itself a lie as black as Tom Robinson's skin, a lie I do not have to point out to you.  You know the truth, the truth is this: some Negroes lie, some N*groes are immoral, some N*gro men cannot be trusted around women, black or white.  But this is a truth that applies to the human race and to no particular race of men."

Atticus Finch is speaking with his children about the verdict and life.

"As you grow older, you'll see white men cheat black men every day of your life, but let me tell you something and don't you forget it -- whenever a white man does that to a black man, no matter who he is, how rich he is, or how fine a family he comes from, that white man is trash."

  2. Good book!  I can remember reading it for school (20+ years ago).

When Scout is asking her Dad about why the black man is in jail, I believe his explanation to her will provide a good quote.  Also, you can check the scenes when Scout is spying on the trial.  You might find something good there.

And isn't it called "To Kill a Mockingbird"?

  3. The bit where atticus says: you cant understand a man untill you walk around in his shoes, He is basically saying people dont want to know about Tom Robinson because he is black. This is prejudice, but Atticus defies the prejudice by acting for Robinson.

Prejudice is said to be ‘Maycomb’s usual disease’. Racial prejudice cost an innocent black man, Tom Robsinson’s, life, as he has been found guilty without justice. “In our courts when it’s a white man’s word against a black man’s, the white man always wins. They’re ugly, but those are the facts of life.” This interacts with another idea of injustice.

    Hope i helped
