  1. That's a good question.  I haven't found any "good" restaurants that serve gator as an entree.  Generally you'll find it as an appetizer and usually its at a wings bar type place or some place off the beaten path.

Here are two places to try:

Gatorland.  Not really a restaurant per se but more of a theme park, all about gators.  You could spend several hours there and see the shows.  They have a cafe and gator on the menu.

Halfway down the page in the middle is their menu:

Gators dockside.  This is a sports bar franchise.  But they do have gator on the menu and if you're in Orlando you can probably find one near you.

  2. if you can make it out to New Symrna Beach (just due north-east of the orlando/kissimmee area on I-4... probably a 20 minute drive but definately worth it), there is a great Florida style (very relaxed atmosphere, beach front views, and great southern cooking) restaurant called JB's Fish Camp. They do serve Gator (fried, blackened, or cajun style). It is very good food and will fill you up (especially if you get a few beers while your out there).

Just to give you a heads up, there is a large biker presence there but its nothing to be worried about because the bikers are very relaxed, they are after all on the beach.

My personal favorite item there is the soft-shell crab sandwich... its just a whole fresh soft-shell crab fried put onto a bun w/ lettuce tomato and mayo... it is so good!

    I hope this helps

  3. Hi!

I live in FL and the best I have found is St. Pete Beach's "Gator's".  The food is excellent, and so is the service.  In the evenings on weekends there's a live band.  The bar sites dockside to inter-coastal waterways.  Sometimes you can see dolphins from where your eating, playing in the water.   Gator at large is not big, but "gator-bites" are.  They are little balls of fried gator tail, and they have a dipping sauce similar to a blooming onion at Outback.  YUM!  This place is the best.  Another big FL food you should try is the Cuban Sandwich.  Gators also has the best of that, that I can find.  I've tried several.

Gators is at "St. John's Pass".  It's about an hour and 30 minutes from Kissimee, but well worth spending a day at the pass.   You can shop at the pass on the huge boardwalk, there are a lot of suoviner shops are there, as well as dolphin watching tours.  Stop by the candy kitchen for desert!!!
