I'm thinking about going to nyc with my best girlfriend this Christmas time (not on Christmas, probably two - three weeks before) and I wanted to know if there were any good restaurants with a really nice Christmasy feel (ie. decor, themes, foods, etc) - I know about the usuals, Tavern on the Green, 1 if by land, and I heard Gramercy Tavern doesnt have very good food.... So other than those - any suggestions? The budget is probably 75 - 100 per person, and neither of us drink alcohol at all, so thats not a factor. Thanks! :)

  1. Park Avenue Winter

The name and decor of the restaurant actually changes seasonally. It's real chic and probably won't remind you of Christmas persay, but in terms of winter decor and trendiness, you can't win with anything else but this restaurant.

  2. Gramercy Tavern is one of the best restaurants in New York and would be a great choice.  Check its Zagat rating or any review, it has great food.

Tavern on the Green is a tourist trap and should be avoided at all costs.

Blue Water Grill  is festive and fun, there are temporary  Christmas shops right across the street.  Its on Union Square.

  3. Rock Center Cafe, it's on the lower level concourse of Rockefeller Center.  Right next to the skating rink, and close to the giant tree.

I think they have might some kind of "Breakfast With Santa" promotion.  Probably themed Christmastime menus as well, you can check their web-site for menus and more info.  It's a great restaurant with non-outrageous prices.
