Question:

A good second hand car for a learner driver?

My fiance is thinking of getting his car learner licence, I went to my dad's farm in my own car on the weekend (which is a manual) took it out in a big empty paddock and had my fiance drive around, he understood the brake and accelerator but had difficulty with the clutch, which is understandable as he has an artificial hip in that leg, so obviously the best car for him would be an auto, with lots of leg room (he's very tall) his favourite cars are holden but I don't know what sort of vehicle would be best suited for him, he also has a little difficulty with the manual window lifter so auto windows and mirrors would also be needed and preferably something with 4 cylinders that doesn't use to much petrol, can anyone recommend a cheap reliable vehicle with the above mentioned features.

it might be sometime before he gets his licence but once he does I want to surprise him with his own vehicle as mine is very girly.

  1. A honda prius is good with these gas prices, but an ok car would be a chevy which is around 11k and 29mpg

  2. Im thinking anything by Mercedes or BMW (used of course) they have massive leg room, brilliant autos and good 4 cylinder models. Sparing them, I would also higly reccomend the Honda Accord Euro, Toyota Celica, Honda Integra, and of course my personal favourite:

    The Ford Focus.

  3. for really tall drivers, the 4 cylander with the best leg room that i've ever driven is the toyota celica. its a 4 cylander that drives like a 6, gets pretty good gas mileage, has great leg room, last forever, automatic and power everything, and depending on the year you can get one in good shape with ok mileage for 4 to 10 grand, and they look pretty sharp too. you really can't beat it. i know, im over 6 foot tall, and leg room is very important, especially with your fiance's hip. hope you find a good car and surprise him. :)

  4. well i agree with you there that it should be a manual for him, ahh with the cylinders i'd rekon a straight 6 would be good as this is what i had for my first car and it was an auto and luxurious, cheap, reliable, a think you should get him a

    Toyota Cressida 1985 model.

they are great cars, mine lasted for years

    Hope this helps you :)
