  1. I grew up in Richmond, VA. You'd love the southside or west end there. There is still a bit of winter there come fall. If you don't want a ton of blacks, you want to move all the way down to Florida. Jacksonville is supposed to be the party capital of the world. Lots of places are though. Tampa is very nice all year round; my uncle retired there. Tons of retire-rees are on Florida's west coast and everywhere else, too. Charlotte is pretty. Asheville is georgous but smaller. It's probably the city that you would love the most. It's not so big as to be dangerous, but it is small-town family friendly; and the beautiful mountains kind of highlight that family friendly theme. It's a GREAT place to raise a family. I don't know what the economy or anything else is like, but if you are looking for a nice place that is it. Cobb Co in Atlanta is a very good place to live. The punks hate the cops there. It's THE county for the Atlanta area. There are at least a dozen big high schools there —  all nice suburban settings. Actually, the city is encroaching on eastern Cobb Co so you would want to move to western Cobb Co or beyond. Cherokee Co or Paulding Co north and west of Cobb is popping with the newest suburbs. Atlanta probably has a lot of job opportunities. The commute can be awful, but they are widening the interstate there. If you could find a good job in Asheville, I'd move there. I tell you what though, there is nothing wrong with the 10+ malls, 15 sporting goods stores, 500 restaurants, and tons of friendly people etc... etc... (all around you in Cobb) that Cobb Co in Atlanta has to offer. Great suburbs.

  2. Austin, TX.  Really cool city.  I hope to move there myself.

  3. plano tx is a nice place

  4. well it depends on what you mean by city.

I am partial to Bristol Va/Tn. Its an independent city located in Washington Co Va and Sullivan Co Tn. Not exactly an Atlanta.. but I enjoy the smallness.

Beyond that Kingsport and Johnson City, both in Tn.

Roanoke Va is a little closer to the north than I would consider to be a southern city.

    I like the mountain cities.

  5. Raleigh, NC

  6. Raleigh, NC is a growing and economically strong area.  If you want a geographically prettier area, but not quite as strong economically, look at Asheville, NC, which also has a better climate.  Atlanta, GA is nice but it's way too crowded.  Maybe the Tampa, FL area as well - real estate prices are good there right now.
