A good starter kayak...?

Hello, my husband and I have finally decided to purchase two kayaks (we don't like the ones for two people), but we are at a loss as to which would be a good beginner kayak. We would only be using them once a week for a couple of hours for recreational/fitness use. And we would be paddling at a lake or a calm river. Also, ideally, we would not like to spend more than 500 for each. Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

  1. You may need to look at used ones. We got our Oldtown, for 2, used and it was $800. Perception is very good, Mad River, Carolina,  and Hobie are the ones we looked at. We were really going for the Perception before a good deal on the Oldtown came in.

  2. check out boatertalk.com  it is the "autotrader" of kayaks and canoes
