  1. if you are going to worm your tortoise you really should get the wormer from your vet, i usually get given panacur but the tortoise needs to be weighted for the correct dosage to be given, some wormers can make them sick so i always go to my vet for it, you can get a reptile wormer but mostly it is for lizards so it is better to be safe than sorry and get the proper stuff which is correct for tortoises, tortoises should be wormed at least once a year

  2. A regular heat lamp will do, however make sure there is a warm side and a cooler side  in the tank or cage, plus tortoises need a place to feel they can hide to feel secure sometimes.   Good Luck

  3. While most pet shop Russians are wild caught, and often full of worms, it is ALWAYS better to KNOW that it is infested before using a very dangerous drug- remember- almost all wormers are poisons that are risky to the animal itself.

Russians are a bit tricky after a while- raising them with most of the advice on-line seems to result in them 'wearing down' after a few years. I think this is due to a combination  of factors- high temps, low humidity, too 'wet' of a diet or a wrong diet totally, not hibernating, etc.

The best information I can find seems to be on http://www.russiantortoise.org, with the guys on the http://www.tortoiseforum.org site being helpful as well.

  4. sorry i can't tell you what to get as i just pay my vet to worm my tortoise. but this is something to avoid:

    some more information is here:

    hope this helps!

  5. Do not medicate your tortoise unless you KNOW something is wrong.  A wormer is harsh on their digestive systems and will only make her more lethargic if nothing is wrong.  If you're that worried, you need to bring her and a fecal sample to the vet to be tested.
