  1. nyu

  2. Times Square is in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. NYC is composed of 5 'boroughs' (aka counties) and since Manhattan is an island, to walk to it you have to go over a bridge, not all of which are pleasant (or even safe) to walk over during a winter Nor'Easter.

There are several fine institutions in NYC, not all IN Manhattan. Some are in better neighborhoods than others. For example, Queens College, Brooklyn College, Fordam U.

  3. Good universities with nice looking campuses in or very near to Manhattan include:

    - Fordham University

    - Wagner College

    - Brooklyn College

    - Manhattan College

    - Columbia University

    - Barnard College

Of those, Brooklyn and Wagner are the prettiest.

A great university, but with not such a pretty campus, is NYU. Another that's also a good school, but not so pretty, is Hunter College.
