  1. The suggestions above are good, and some are what I was also about to suggest. Anyways, you can try these websites:

    www.tagalog-dictionary.com

They have basic english-tagalog translations as well as brief descriptions of filipino idioms. Could be handy for confusing phrases.

    www.crunchyroll.com

They have a large collection of asian series and movies including Filipino ones. Almost all of the filipino movies have english subs so you'll pick something along the way even if you can't really understand it at first, plus you could also get different perspectives of the Filipino culture.

I'd suggest these movies. They have good plots and they're actually award-winning films, but i'm not exactly saying you'd like them. But you could probably try them out.

You could also try listening to tagalog songs and try picking something from the lyrics. I'm also trying to learn another language and i often easily forget the words or phrases that i've learned except those associated with music.

You can try this site, you can listen to the song while catching up with the lyrics. Here's a classic filipino/tagalog song to start up with:

If you only wanna learn some basic tagalog stuff, i could probably help you with it or you can also post a specific question related to it and we'll (yahoo answers people) try to answer it for you.

  3. for a start, you can get an english-tagalog dictionary. (i don't think there is a german-tagalog dictionary, but since you obviously speaks english, it will be helpful); manuals or pamphlets of essential words and phrases and pronounciations are also available in bookstores; you can also get tagalog movies with english sub-titles.

of course, the best way is to talk to a native speaker.

if you're in manila, there are many language schools that may also provide personal teaching.
