Instead of putting 2 of his 4 cars in the street like every other neighbor he crams them all into his driveway. If I go for a run or kids are ridding their bikes they are forced to go out into the street of the neighborhood to get around him. Its a real pain and the *** and I know he will be a DB if I say anything to him. I live in MD are there any state laws or something I can print out and leave under his windshield wiper.

  1. No one can block a sidewalk. You can get a fine for not shoveling the snow off your part of the sidewalk so I don't think you can put anything on it and leave it.

  2. I don't know about a website you might have access to, but that's a good idea.

It is illegal to block a sidewalk, so unless someone in an official position is notified, or a police officer notices this, he will continue to get away with it.Doing this once or twice might be forgiven, but if it is ongoing, I would try leaving a note, yes, and if that doesn't work, document what you have done and report it to the authorities......It is indeed unsafe for young kids on bikes to have to go out onto the roadway.

  3. The first place to look is your city code, most cities have their code posted online so it would be fairly easy to find.  Also most cities have a code against parking on the sidewalk which usually is a misdemeanor but carries a fine.  We have code enforcement people that will come out and issue citations, rather than the police, you might check to see if you city has them and report him.  Reports like this are confidential and your lovely neighbor will not know it is you.

  4. You can call the city parking\zoning department and they will come out and issue a citation. He is probably going to know it was you. Just leave a nicely written note on his door while he is away asking him not to obstruct the sidewalk and that you don't want your kids forced to ride around his cars into the street. Do that first as a courtesy. It isn't a big deal.

  5. No......you cannot block the sidewalks in any state.......just call the police and they will take care of this......
