A handgun legal question?

My gf was with a looser of a guy for a while.. at the time he was to young to purchase a handgun(not 21 yet) so she bought it in her name from a pawn shop in ms. she is with me now and deservedly getting treated like a princess!.. i found out about the gun being in her name but in his possession. he is a liar, cheat, theif and a drug addict(some of the resons why she left him). well i am an avid gun enthuaist here in tx. I am afraid her will sell the gun for drugs. lose it. have it stolen. or trade it for a fix. I am trying to encourage her to get a bill of sale from hi(he said he traded it in last year to the same pawn shop where they bought it).. but she doesnt beleive him . and he has also reminded her that since she bought it for him she could get in trouble... this all comes up becase she found the origional receipt in her wallet and freeked out... what should we do? he is lieing to us and saying he sold it.. and was supposed to fax proof of the trade/sell but has not. we called the pawn shop asing but they said it was all confidential. should I call a lawyer/the cops see what they say? anyone have a way to track a 44 magnum serial number?

1st im sure shell get in trouble 4 buying it for him even if he doesnt use it. se should call police just incase. maybe report it stolen. i dont remember if u said she has a hand gun permit, but if she does she will probly loose it.

well id bring the serial # to the cops stating the situation so that way if the gun is envolved in something illegal it isnt traced back 2 ur girl. if u dont and something does happen then they are jut gonna say y didnt u tell us that it was sold. i know if its being sold between persons u need to go to a local police station and register the gun. once u get a copy of the report the cops keep it for ur records. good luck.
