I am looking for a plant that does not need much light and will grow all year round (also not expensive and easy to look after)and where i live well its cold and windy a lot so the plant will have to put up with that too. It will be going in a big pot maybe quite a large plant?

Any suggestions please and if you can any pictures or websites to visit would be great cheers.

  1. You really need to plant a tough shrub like box.

You could also grow Sarcococca confusa, common name christmas box, this has small white flowers in the winter and has the most amazing perfume.

  2. Hebes, conifers, red robin, yellow privet and plant daffodils round the base and a few colourful annuals in May.

  3.   The parameters set by your location don't make it easy but there are shrubs which will fill your requirements.  try Cordyline Australis which is evergreen and ornamental, Pieris : Flame of the Forest ---nice leaves and flowers in spring.  Rhododendrons of small varieties are evergreen and flower in spring.  Finally any no of conifers.

    Hope this helps

  4. get yourself a pieris in the spring it has pretty flowers and the bee,s love it than it grows new leaves which are bright pink to red and ther e is a varigated form that is quite stunning they are as hardy as old boots . ive had one in a pot for 10 years and its going strong
