A highway that has a 6% rises 6' vertically for every 100' horizontally. Which trigonometric ratio is used?

This is a trig question that I am having difficulty understanding...any clarity that one can provide would be very helpful.

  1. tang x=6'/100'


  2. If the question wants you to find out the angle of inclination of the highway(meaning the angle that it rises at)

    Tangent

    we'll call this angle "x"

    tan(x) = Opposite/Adjacent

    tan(x) = 6/100

    x = tan^(-1)(0.06)

  3. tan(x) = 6/100

    x = tanֿ¹(6/100)

    = 3.42degrees
