  1. They are two different steps in the process of making a tissue diagnosis. A biopsy refers to the process of obtaining the tissue--whether via a needle or a gross surgical specimen. The word biopsy can be used as a verb (to obtain the tissue) or as a noun (the tissue that was obtained or the act of obtaining the tissue). A histological slice is a very fine slice of tissue that you can stain and examine under a microscope to make the diagnosis.

  2. It is the same concept for the same reason: tissue sampling.

When a biopsy is performed a needle is used to remove tissue.

A histological slide is a simple slice with tissue in it, it might even be part of the sample collected from the biopsy.
