A honeymoon in Italy, any suggestions?

I'm so excited. We have decided to go to Italy on our honeymoon, but we're not sure of where to go in the country, or what type of honeymoon to have.

One thing we thought we could do is fly into one of the major airports, then go by train from place to place as it seems a super opportunity to visit all those wonderful places we've only read about, go to the opera, etc .

However, another possibility that suits our personalities would be to go somewhere quiet, self-cater, and hole up for a couple of weeks or three, preferably by a coast somewhere, enjoying the food etc.

I've never been to Italy, and my fiance has only been once, and that was really passing through, so I though I would ask here.

We will both be in our early 40s and don't like resorts much. We do like fishing, food, coasts, music, art, reading, fabrics, cooking.

Thank you in advance
