  1. Very good. Its unusual for horses to live into their 30s, but it seems like when they do, they keep on going forever! I've known two who were approximately 40 when they died, and both were very healthy and energetic right up until the end - in fact, both were working lesson horses. And neither were ponies or arabs - one was a Quarter horse & one was a appy/throughbred cross.

  2. A very very good age. Some horses do live to be forty.

But that is an extremly good age.

  3. I knew a horse that lived to 42, this was a fab age! 37 is a good age, provided the horse was in good health and not half dead.

  4. Yes, this is a very good age. Here are another couple of records.

Old Billy, a barge horse was 62 years old when he died in 1822 - being born in 1760.

The tallest horse ever was Samson, a shire who stood at 21.2hh. He was born in Toddington Mills, England.

  5. That's a VERY good age! Most horses live into their 20's, and the occasional 30-year-old, but 37 is pretty good! I've heard of ponies that are 57, but that's a different story, since ponies usually live longer than horses.

  6. A very good age.  When horses were used heavily for farm work they seldom lived past there teen years.  At 16 or 17 they were considered very old.  Now that we do not use them as much and take extrememly good care of them they typically live into their twenties.  However occassionally you find one living into their thirties.  Late thirties though is rare except for a few pony breeds and perhaps arabs.  It is unusual though even for them.

  7. yes, that is a good age for a horse. They can get into their twenties and we don't see them in their thirties a lot.

  8. Wow!  He was a real geezer!  Horses are generally considered "old" when they get into their late teens and early 20's.  They move on up to "Aged" when they pass their mid 20's and than are considered "Elderly" when they turn 30 and are officially "Ancient" when they pass their 35th birthday.  He must have been well cared for.

  9. most live to be around 30 years old.. so he/she had a nice long life!
