Perhaps one of the largest problems facing the U.S. is illegal immigration. Millions have entered the U.S. through its southern border without legitimate documentation. Now jobs like cherry-picking, bricklaying and running the cash register are unavailable to legal U.S. residents. This pressing problem requires new measures.
Many have noticed that on maps borders are drawn by lines. But in reality, unfortunately, there is no clear line. It is time, however, to make one. A careful planting of land mines on the U.S.-Mexico border should drastically decrease illegal immigration while using up the U.S.'s stores of this obsolete weapon. Some have reservations about whether this is humane. Rest assured if carefully placed at the border the mines can be put outside of U.S. constitutional jurisdiction. International law is even less of a concern as the U.S. is not a signatory to Ottawa treaty. There should be no casualties since the illegals shouldn't be crossing the border anyway.
