  1. what you get paid from the insurance, at best, is "actual cash value" of the destroyed property.

  2. Everything that is damaged.

The non-damaged items don't need to be replaced.

Walk around your apartment....make a list of every thing you own. Open up every  closet, drawer, cabinet, piece of furniture you own (even the junk drawer).

How many pairs of socks, underwear, shoes, pants, shirts, panty hose, skirts, etc do you own?

    Every dish/pot/pan/fork/spoon/knife/cup/bowl in the kitchen

Every piece of food in the fridge/pantry

Every toiletry -toothbrush/toothpaste/hair brush, comb, clips, pony tail holder, curling iron,  nail polish -- get it?

Make a list of every single item in your apartment. If you would take it with you in a move-- it's personal property. Usually this is whats covered under a renters policy.

If you had to start over and the only thing you own is your purse and the clothes on your body.....what else do you need?

    If it's damaged -List it.

***depending on where you live-- your policy may have exclusions for hurricanes/named storms.  Unless you purchased a "flood policy" - surface water (weather driven by wind or not, regardless if from man made source or nature) is excluded.

I am assuming this is a "what if" question.  If you have suffered an actual loss-- please speak to your agent and request their assistance. ***

  3. ur comfort, e.g. ur tv, maybe ur pc, ur sofa and bed (obv) ur kitchen stuff. ur toilet? is that broken? ur shower!

now thats done, go get some movies and some cds and live happily ever after. (until u move out or ur friend come over and reck everythin.)

  4. This sounds like a hypothetical question...

1st you should make sure that Hurricanes are covered (and that the water surge is covered).  2nd look for replacement cost coverage. 3rd do a home inventory of your personal property, buy exactly the coverage you need and keep a copy of your inventory at another location (it doesn't do you any good if it is destroyed). 4. check any special limits in the policy (ie jewelry or other valuables)

If this is not a hypothetical question I am sorry for your troubles.  You will likely still need to make a list.  Start with the big stuff first - think room by room in your apartment (kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, dining room and living room).  Wow - $100,000!  You would have had some nice furniture, lots of electronics, etc.

    Take care

  5. You need to spend $100K?  Buy lots of expensive kitchen appliances, and designer clothes.   Get your furniture at Ethan Allen.

I don't think you'll be able to spend that much.  But it sure would be fun to try.
