A hypothetical texas hold-em scenario?

3 players left at final table. After the flop, player C goes all in. Players A & B call. After the turn, player A bets. Player B folds. In a truly stupid act, player A mucks his hand, forgetting that player C is still in the hand. So, since player A folded, player C should win the hand. But what happens to the money placed into the side pot between players A & B?

  1. This situation would not happen. However, as ridiculous as it is, I would let the side pot ride onto the next hand.

  2. In this scenario, there was no side pot other than what player "A" put in after the turn.  Since "B" did not call, and "C" was already all in, that money is automatically returned to "A" at the end of the hand.

Technically, it is also impossible to muck your hand after you match an all in call if noone else matches.  Unless you're playing with friends and just trying to fluff the pot for him.

  3. First off, cards are only turned up when there is no more betting possible, and in this case there is, and Player A has bet in fact.  The people saying that Player C gets all the chips are right.  Player B mucks, then Player A mucks, so there's only one hand left and no one else to give the money to.

  4. Player B mucked before player A

So Player A will win the side pot.

  5. Player A does not have the option to muck his hand.  If player B folds then player A and player C must now flip their hands over.  Player C has the right to see player A's hand because it was called.

If in this case, however, you are wondering about the side pot then player A gets it automatically because player B already mucked giving player A and automatic win.

  6. everyone who said it cant happen is correct, in a tourney when a player is allin and no more action can be done, the rule is all hands will be turned over before last card is shown. THE REASON FOR THIS IS THAT THERE CAN BE NO COLLUSSION. This is a great rule, and player A will not have mucked his cards,  the dealer should have prevented it. So even if the player was so stupid, there are rules to protect him.

  7. Yawn a lot of people that don't know to much.

If player a throws his cards in and they touch the mucked cards it's all over for him, how can this not happen? The side pot would be returned to him. How can player C get all the money he's not involved in the side pot!!
