imagine playing basketball on moon.base on Universal law of gravitation,what considerations are important to make game successful.(how does g influence game)

  1. the gravty at moon is 1/6 that of earth, therefore the ball, he bat and the players need to be artificially given 6 times of their actual weights at moon in order to have the same results as on earth. hope this helps. bye.


  2. This is a good question. The gravitational acceleration on the Moon is smaller than on Earth so the basketball will be in the air longer and will be shot higher. The ball will travel 6 times higher that on Earth. The other thing to consider is the horizontal component of each shot and every movement. With g being smaller than the normal force will be small, making the force of friction smaller. With little friction horizontally the surface could possibly be altered to something more rough. The coefficient of friction between rubber sneakers and a basketball court is high already so that may be a limiting factor.

    That said, make the nets higher, but it will be difficult to make sharp cuts and long shots.
