  1. Rue Mouffetard and environs - The area in the 5th on the south side of the hill topped by the Panthéon has a little bit of everything for the nighthawk, from the classy cafés of Place de la Contrescarpe to an Irish-American dive bar just down the way to a hip, nearly hidden jazz café at the bottom of the hill.

  2. The place I hang out is Aux Trois Mailletz at 56 rue Galand in the 5th arr. There's a piano on the first floor (which is where you'll find me when I'm there) and a more nightclub like setting in the basement.

The music at the piano is varied with both the house singers and various people who sit in (like me for example). There's everything from opera to old standards (both French and English) to flat out jazz.

The crowd is a mix of regulars and tourists and people of all ages show up.

They have pretty decent food and the prices are reasonable (for Paris). There is no cover charge or entrance fee.
