are police officers in charge of keep their car clean or do they have someone detail them. I ask because I live in a small town and I am trying to find a works study to help pay for school (in a nearby town) and I was going to ask if I could detail all the police cars and do other things like cleanup, donut runs lol jk...kinda, filing, running errands, answering phones, basically anything that I can do to as a work study.

  1. Where I live prison inmates clean and detail the police cars.

  2. they are responsible for maintaining their vehicles.

they detail them themselves for inspections. other than that they are supposed to keep them clean on their own.

you might offer to help with it as part of work study but don't be upset if they say no. also they probly won't pay you.

there is a certain liability there having someone non police handling a police vehicle

  3. It's going to depend a lot on your local police.  In some places they have automated car washes and in others they use people doing community service to wash police cars, though they don't usually allow them to clean the interiors.  My advice would be to just as, the worst that they can say is no.

  4. usually they have people that have to do community service clean the police cars.

  5. Maintenance on police vehicles differs in almost every city/town.  Some have a working relationship with car wash companies.  Some do it themselves.  Others take them to a 'fleet maintenance' department.

Stop by and talk to a few of the officers.  They might be happy to 'slip' you some change for doing it for them.
