A key to success is a relation a between a coach and the player – Tennis News
Former world number one, Jelena Jankovic, lost miserably to the American tennis icon, Venus Williams, in the Family Circle Cup on Thursday. After facing such an embarrassing loss, the Serb is in the hunt for a new coach.
In an interview, Jankovic stated, “I’m in negotiations to find a coach, to get a coach. I really want to work because it’s difficult like this; not having anyone when I’ve gotta work on some technical things.” The relationship
between the coach and a player must be very strong so that the message is passed on correctly.
They should be able to under the eye movements that can help them to generate a communication medium during matches. A slight lift in the morale can help players during tough situations. The Serb tennis icon has lost in the three
matches on the trot in three different tournaments that is definitely a major concern for a player of her class.
She further added, “Having someone that keeps a different voice in your head that can help you a little bit. It’s important, you know. I’m at the stage of my career where I’m getting older and I need little more help than maybe
before, where I could do it at times alone, with a hitting partner.”
Nadia Petrova, the 13th seed contestant of the tournament has been performing consistently at Charleston. She is in the quarter-finals of the tournament and faces-off the likes of 14th seed Czech, Lucie Safarova.
She also considered the need of a coach despite being in the field of tennis for over a decade. It always gives a special feeling to have someone registering your mistakes and lifting your morale. She mentioned, “When Ricardo came
back in the picture, we went back into working on my weapons. It’s very crucial for every tennis player to have this kind of person with you.”
Professionals do hire coaches to keep themselves in routine and stay connected to the sport. They don’t need to learn any kinds of traits or learn new shots because they are able to learn themselves; only thing they want is some
motivation and guidance in difficult times, when they are broke and can’t come out of that stage. The situation of Jankovic is exactly that. She is unable to get out of the situation and continues to think pessimistically. A new coach can probably solve this
issue for her.
