A kilt for a non celtic themed wedding?

My fiance wants to wear a kilt for our wedding, but I hate the idea. He won't budge. Now I'll have to change the theme and color. I'm pretty sure a kilt in a non celtic themed wedding would look bad but he doesn't care. What do I do?

  1. Maybe you could have celtic style music while walking up the isle, to tie it in with the theme.

Then ask him to wear a tux to the reception.

And jut another tip, if your having an indoor wedding, its out of the question to have a kilt. Well maybe not that, but it looks weird indoors.

  2. Can you compromise and have him wear a kilt for the ceremony, and then change for the reception?  If this is important to him and is part of his heritage then I say let him wear it and who cares if it doesn't match.  No you don't need to do a whole celtic theme just because he is wearing a kilt.  Many men of Irish and Scottish heritage wear kilts for special occasions.

The important thing is that you are getting married, whether you are wearing jeans, kilts or formal dress it won't change that fact.  Just focus on what is important and don't let the little things stress you out!

  3. Oh dear. I am assuming that your husband has Scottish lineage, at which point the kilt that he is wearing will be his family tartan and does not have to match your colours.

If he is not Scottish, I would say it is a very bad idea.
