I threw a ball (i) vertically up in the sky (ii) 45 degree with horizone at a speed of 50 ms^-1. With what velocity will ball hit the ground in both cases.

  1. In both cases conservation of energy, gives that it will hit the ground with the same speed of 50m/s and direction

    i) vertically down

    ii) 45 degree with horizon, down


  2. assuming a vacuum:neglecting air resistance

    i)50 m/s

    ii)50 * Sin(45) =35.36 m/s:  vertical component
