Anyway..forgot I have more space here.. The worms are about 3/8th inch or roughly 10mm long and are a deep red. I see them especially in the filter and all this summer I assumed they were plant debris, but one attached to me today . So how can I get rid of them in the fish and pond? The pond is only 100 gallons and we have about 10 4-7 inch goldfish and koi all doing very well except the one.

  1. we call them wrigglies usually smaller fish eat them they are like blood worms that you buy at your pet store get a few guppies and mollies (adults) they love them even chinese algae eaters the all go well out side in the warmer weather i had them in an old bath tub outside with they same type of worm you decribed i think the koi died of something else

  2. What is a Koi, some type of fish? it sounds as if they are either poisoning the fish water or bloodsucking on the fish like a parasite. I would  contact your local veterinary service, take a specimen of the worm and get then to identify it for you. Have a great day.

  3. they are blood worms, don't worry it is a sign that you have a nice clean fish pond . Also u will find the fish will be readily eating them.
