A lap kitty type of behavior?

We're looking for a kitty but would like one that is not hyper and will love being a lap-type kitty. It would be an exclusive indoor cat. Any ideas on what I should be looking for in the way of breeds or behaviors when looking for a kitty?

Well, I would stay away from kittens and younger cats...cause they're usually super hyper. We've had males and females, mostly tabby mixes, and all of them liked to be lap kitties. Your best bet is take a look at your local shelter, and spend some time with the cats there. If yours is anything like the one here, there are TONS of cats waiting to be adopted. They also have some cats at my local PetCo and Petsmart.

Definitely adopt an ADULT shelter cat - not a kitten.  With kittens you really never know what their personality will be like while with adult cats their personality is right there before you.  As for breed it really doesn't matter.  Personality is really something individual to a cat - not to its breed.

Note, though, that cats come to you on THEIR terms.  Lots of them will snuggle close to you and even sit on your lap for a bit but most will only do it when THEY want to.  The more affectionate you are with a cat, the more bonded it will become to you and the more likely you'll have a kitty happy to snuggle up to you.

FYI, Bubble, "Tabby" is a coat pattern - not a breed.  Lots of purebred cats have tabby markings as well as lots of cats of no particular breed.

WELL ANY CAT CAN BE A LAP CAT I HAVE THREE ONE CAT FOLLOWS ME A ROUND LIKE A PUPPY [MIX BREED] , THE SECOND CAT LETS ME HOLDER ALL THE TIME AND SHE'S A[ MIXED BREED] CAT ,AND THE THIRD ONE LETS HIM HOLD HIM UNTIL HE GETS TIRED OF YOU HE'S A [MAIN COON ]..   SO IT  I GEUSS IT JUST DEPENDS ,MY PICK WOULD BE MIX BREEDS ,MAINE COONES ,TABBYS ,AND RAGDOLLS....  HOPE THIS HELPS  ..P.S.
