  1. Group children in threes and have each group come up with a way to form a three with their bodies. You will lots of giggles out of this one!

  2. You could....

Split the class into two groups. For clarity, lets call them group A & B. Using one piece of paper for each child, write numerals (ie. - 6,7,8, etc.) and on Group B's cards draw dots that correspond with the numbers that you just wrote on Group A's cards. Laminate these cards and punch a hole through them, and make them into a necklace. have group A stand on one side of the gym and group B stand on the other side of the gym. Call a number (8 for example) then a the child with the numeral 8 and the child with eight dots will both run to the center of the gym and try to pick up the toy in the center of the gym. The toy can be anything - a stuffed witch for Halloween, A heart for valentines day, whatever.

  3. hop-scotch :D

  4. Each child can take a turn finding a certain number of select items around the classroom between the numbers of 1-10 and place them inside a circle on the rug as the class counts. The teacher can hold up a different number card for each child.

  5. Parachute would be great - raise the parachute three times - or put in three nerf balls to bounce then add two more - how many are in there now?

We also have a fishing game with cut out fish with paper clips on them - then we have a dowel rod with a string and magnet and they can go fishing.  Each fish has a number on it and dots on the back in case they get stuck and have to count.

  6. You can do a fun game with two large dice.  Use one to determine the number of times you do something and on the other you can either tape on labels like hop, clap, jumping jack, etc.  or you can make up a picture key that has a list of movements and a corresponding number depending on the age of your preschoolers.  They might like the idea of "reading" the code. It helps if the dice are 2 different colors.  children take turns throwing the dice and then the group follows the directions.

    other things you can do:

obstacle course with the theme of a specific number.  ex:  walk across the balance beam(or tape line) once, jump over a low obstacle twice, crawl through the tunnel 3 times, drop four clothes pins into a jar.  Throw 5 beanbags into a hula hoop.  jump through 6 hula hoops, etc.)  or where you would do each obstacle 3 times before moving on

parachute: write numbers on balloons and as a group try to keep certain numbers in or toss certain numbers out
