  1. only if there's cake

  2. WHERE"S MY TEA? I HAVEN"T HAD MY BLOODY TEA YET! IF I DON'T GET SOME TEA IN MY FACE SOON I'M GONNA KILL SOMEONE WITH THIS BLOODY MUFFIN!

That's what happens if we don't get our tea, look up the 'great tea riots of 1978' on wikipedia, total bloodbath.

  3. No! I've never had afternoon tea in my life!!lol!

  4. Not so much these days, although it certainly used to be a tradition among the previous generations.  Personally, it's a phrase I never use - it's kind of quaint and old fashioned!  We Brits still do tend, on the whole, to drink tea more than coffee, although that's changing as it's only really been in recent years that having a cup of coffee means anything other than nasty instant coffee!

  5. The short answer is generally no as most people are at work....the only time I've had afternoon tea in the recent past was on a cruise...it was an American cruise and we went for afternoon tea....it would have been fine if they knew how to make tea....They produced empty china cups, a steel jug with hot water and with great pomp brought out a polished wooden box which they opened with a flourish and it contained a dozen different TEA BAGS which you put in your cup and poured the hot water over.....NOT THE WAY TO DO IT.   The cakes were nice though....For a good afternoon tea go to the Ritz or Betty's cafe in Harrogate.

  6. I apologize on behalf of the people of The United States of America. In asking a question born of innocent curiosity, we have yet again offended the tender sensibilities of the good people of England. Sorry. So utterly, sincerely sorry.

That being said---Yes. The entire United States of America

grinds to a halt at 2:15 PM -5GMT Monday through Friday as we all partake in coffee and "hillbilly cakes" an iconic national  favorite, while enjoying banjo music and discussing NASCAR.

Again, let me assure the jolly folk of "Jolly Old England" that we are all just sick about the whole "tea question" affair. Sorry.

  7. LOL OK I so know where you are coming from with this question...am a Brit that lives in the USA and have been asked this as well as many others...............

We do have tea breaks whilst at work etc.

I think the comment above was a bit unfair...............in general the most that people have seen about the UK is from films and the TV........think Hyacinthia Bucket here......BUT the only thing I had ever seen about the States years ago was Hill street Blues and the houses in New York that had steel doors and 20 locks and dead bolts on them...NOT the case.........

You might be thinking of a high tea where you have a cup of tea and some small cakes or biscuits [you call them cookies] as a little something before you have your dinner BUT in general if it is like my house the kettle is always hot.........so life is one big tea break LOL

    Regards

  8. SOMETIMES
