  1. I had to do art in boxes for my mock GCSE exam, i did like a stage set, i never finished it though. it had one sicture at the front then a pic behind that and another pic behind that...like layers... if that makes sence.Like this but with another layer:

  2. Try http://www.art.co.uk/

look through and see if you can find similar work

  3. Many artists use collections of found objects and place them inside a frame, which is really only a sort of box.

    Peter Blake

Joe Tilson. That's 2 for starters.

If you Google  Artists+boxes there are many links.

  4. Kurt Schwitters is someone you may want to check out to.

he is famous for his "merzbau" the name he gave to his assemblages of found objects:

You may want to have a look at Jasper Johns too as he uses found object within his paintings. Some of his paintings use boxes e.g

Another artist that uses boxes which he fills with found objects is Joseph Cornell

Jasper Johns is definitely the most interesting of these artists but maybe least appropriate to your project.

  5. Sorry, I haven't seen this type of work before, its really good tho. A level Art is hard! Good Luck.

  6. A couple of people have already listed Joseph Cornell.  He is amazing.  I found a great site that has a lot of links to his work.  You may also look at Mexican Retablos.  I actually did my undergraduate senior show with this theme.  It may also be good to consider boxes that are used for other things.  Like post boxes, nest boxes, pandora's box.  When I research ideas for artwork I have found it is good not to only look for artists, but also for examples in movies, songs, literature, and everyday objects.
