  1. BLUTO you forgot

    wharf from star trek

a bunch a guys no one has ever heard of and will never be heard of

choki motobu  he was LEE's size and would kick his *** no problem

As for FUNAKOSHI while considered a wise and insightful teacher was never considered to be much of a fighter by his peers do some research

Plain truth LEE wouldn't have the cojones to get in the ring and put his myth to the test .He was making to many bucks riding it.

  2. No one can he is dead LOL no really no one could and no one can if he was alive today he was the best and will always be the best

  3. I honestly haven't heard of any of them. After googling I guess most are UFC people? Would they have beaten him?

Bruce Lee lay in bed with a broken back and created a martial art form from there, incorporating all the best bits of others. No one can say they have done anything close, as a core fighter he was levels above current equivalents.

I don't think anyone could based on form and technique. In a darkened alley though.... well I would still side with bruce lee.

  4. in the octagon or on the street? dofferent mind set , bruce ahd the no rules mind set

  5. Rickson and all the Gracies

    Lou Thesz

    Gene Lebell

    Chuck Norris

    The Machado Brothers

    Ken Shamrock

    Chuck Liddell

    Frank Gotch

this is just to name a few.

  6. I agree, he was good, but considering their is no proof he ever actually had any amature or professional fights, and all we have are stories about what a great street fighter he was, people like justme hang on faith alone.

trying to use facts to convince them is like running your head into a brick wall, your just going to come out of it frustrated and with fewer brain cells. i don't know how many iq points I've lost reading all the Bruce Lee was the best ever and would own anybody today answers.

    LMAO @ bluto's answer

  7. Judomofo

  8. Bas Rutten

    Randy Coutoure

    Mike Tyson

    Kimbo Slice

(as much as I don't like him) Tito Ortiz

    Matt Hughes

Jesse "The Body" Ventura (in his prime)

ME!!  Not to sound arrogant, but I think I could.

Hear me out.  Bruce was very fast and knowledgeable.  His theories and teachings were far ahead of his time.  But (contrary to what his mindless cheering section will believe) HE WAS MORTAL!!!  He was strong for his size, but he was not big.  He was in great shape, and very flexible, but he is still human.  His advantage in speed and knowledge will not negate his disadvantage in reach, strength, power, weight, etc.  He was a great stand-up sparrer, but his ground game was not great.

Not to brag, but I am 245 lbs with ~10% body fat (Not a food blister, muscle).  I am a 17 year Marine.  I've studied TKD, Isshinryu Karate, collegiate wrestling, BJJ, Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP) and now Krav Maga.  I've COMPETED in and won wrestling matches and boxing matches.  I've grappled and fought with LOTS of guys.  Pugil stick matches.  Police defensive tactics training and groundfighting.  Two tours to Kuwait and Iraq.  I've trained the Iraqi Police in hand to hand combat.

Long story short.  I think there are LOTS who could have beaten him in the ring, or in the streets.  Even some that may be reading this.

And if any of you respond to this by calling me names or challenging me, save your energy.  Don't waste your own time typing.  Go suck down another bag of peanut M&Ms.

  9. Actually, here is a better list of people who could beat Bruce Lee;

Bodhidarma, the founder of Shaolin Kung Fu

Lady Quinjiang, the founder of the Fujian Crane Style

Monk Ordator of Tibet, founder of the Tibetan Crane Style

Yang Lu Chan, founder of the Yang style Tai Chi

Wang Lai Zheng, the only martial artist in modern Chinese history given the honorific title of "he whose fists have reached heaven."

Gichin Funakoshi, the founder of the Shotokan style Karate.  One of Funakoshi's student, Hirokazu Kanasawa, who is one of only a small handful of 10th Dans in Karate, had a bare fisted test of skill against Bruce Lee once.  Kanasawa reportedly stated that even though he held his own, he eventually lost.  What impressed him about Lee however, is that even though Lee beat him, he was still willing to learn a few techniques from him.  Lee's humility in the face of victory, is what ultimately won him his respect.  Now, a point being made here though; for ANYONE to go toe to toe against someone of Bruce Lee's speed, is nothing to sneeze at.  And yet, skilled as Kanazawa was, he also stated, that in the 1960's, skill was STILL nowhere near the same level as master Funakoshi's.  In fact, Kanasawa would likely tell you that between the two men, Funakoshi was the more skilled martial artist because, he did fight against both.  If Bruce Lee hard a hard time beating Kanazawa, if Kanazawa could hold his own against him, then that means that against Gichin Funakoshi, Bruce Lee would not be able to beat him.

    Lee's own master, Yip Man

Possibly though its a long shot, Sugar Ray Robinson, in his prime as a welter.

You are basing all your other fighters on size and strength, when the difference between someone of Lee's proportions is not that different, its only a difference of what, 60 lbs?

If you are talking a size difference of, oh, Wanderlei Silva, and, say, Andre the Giant, or, Wanderlei Silva and the Big Show, THEN, size makes a difference.  But we are talking freakish proportions here, overwhelming physical strength were ANY skill, unless a person is a master, is negated by raw power.

Although Fedor Emanialenko is in a league of his own as far as MMA is concerned, none of the guys you mentioned would be able to beat Bruce Lee.  When you are talking bare fists, speed makes all the difference.  If you are talking restricted, ring fighting, then yeah, Lee would lose.  A no rules bare fisted brawl on the other hand, and Bruce Lee would likely send all of those guys back home on stretchers.

If you consulted people who knew him, like for example Chuck Norris who personally knows many MMA fighters actually, Norris would confirm, and his opinion is arguably more respectable than any posters on this board, he would confirm what I have just said; none of those guys could beat Lee.  Lee's fist were lightning fast, and yeah, size does make a difference but........ none of those guys have freakish levels of strength.

You need to revisit that list; you do not know what real skill is.

If you had a size and strength difference of, oh, say, one dude was 7'7, and weighed 400 lbs and 7% bodyfat, and the other dude was 5'3 at 120 lbs, and a 7th dan in Karate, the 7'7 giant will still kick his ***.

When its a difference of a 140 lb man against a 220 lb one though...... it would boil down to speed.  A smaller man doesn't need to be strong, just strong enough.  First of all, second; speed can kill.  And Lee was arguably one of the fastest American martial artists ever, if not THE fastest.

I insist man; it would have to be an EXTREME difference in size, like for example, a 180 lb man wrestling a 450 lb Lion, THEN, yeah, I agree, size and strength make a difference.  Outside that though.... not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.

I readily acknowledge that size can be an advantage but, only in the cases of extremes.

    peace out.

  12. First off, Bruce was only 135lb. Fedor is what, 230? Secondly, if bruce magically retained his youth throughout the evolution of MMA. He would be one of the top fighters in the sport. Remember, he showed the world Fedor level talent, in a time where no one had interest in what he was doing.

I think Benny "The Jet" would have been an amazing fight. Let's not forget that Benny is probably more dominant than all of those MMA fighters.

  13. Bluto left out brock samson from the venture bros, lol.

Dont forget batman either, or bob sagget

Dude, you cant say that ali would beat up bruce lee.

They were two completely different fighters, therefore, you cannot compare them in a realistic fight.

  14. Randy The Natural Couture

I think people have to remember that Bruce Lee became popular because at the time, there was no "real" martial arts stars out there, and it wasn't as mainstream as it is today.  No doubt Bruce Lee is a bad m**o, but I agree, there are people who can beat him in a fight, whether in the Octagon, Street fight, KUmite-just think about how martial arts has evolved in the past few decades..

Remember the Hughes and Royce fight?  Royce thought that nothing's changed and he can get right back in the Octagon and dominate fighters like he did in the 90's...Matt Huges said "this is a different sport from when Royce was around"  and he was right....People think of Bruce Lee the same way they thought of Royce in his prime.

  15. I'll say....Mas Oyama !!!

But this is an impossible question to verify as none of the list could fight Bruce lee as hes been dead 35yrs ,that's like comparing Rocky Marciano to Mohamed Ali.

  16. Every one alive can the man is deceased, hard to fight back when your a corpse!!

Sorry. I am a RN and unless some vodoo makes him a living dead lol any one could beat him right now.

In his prime. who knows, he did not have UFC and PRIDE then.

  17. I agree - Bruce Lee's disciples are delusional.

Bluto, you are dating yourself!  I would add Automan and Manimal (If you know Dirk Daring you should know these!)

  18. Bruce Lee's mom.
