hi guys coming from the forex world where I'm limited to a few currency pairs, I'm looking to expand the markets available to my self by trading stocks. The thing that is holding me back is that there are literally thousands of stocks to look at. I am looking for someone to recommend a few stocks to look at, I'm mostly a long term technical trader (i.e i look at the chart lay down my indicators and trade regardless of what is being traded lol..)

  1. Here are the symbols for a few.  You can find them at yahoo finance:

EEB, EEM, EFA, IWB, MVV,QLD, UWM.

These are ETFs which trade like stock, but have numberous stocks within the ETF.

  2. Here are some updates of equities that i have taken from the Technical analysis page given in the source list below.

    Equities:

We expect the European markets to open slightly negative Thursday. The U.S. stock indices gained 0.3% after the close in Europe but the S&P 500 future is also down by 0.3%.

Commodities jumped in the late U.S. trading hours lead by crude oil (2.8%), silver (3%), copper (2%) and gold (1.7%). This move was supported by a weaker USD (-0.7%). We believe that oil producers will gain today and recommend buying Statoilhydro, Royal Dutch Shell and Total. Miners and steel producers will also benefit from the higher prices. Our favorite long positions in this segment are ArcelorMittal and Rio Tinto. Be aware that airlines will be under pressure and keep an eye on Ryanair and British Airways.

    Regards

  3. Do the same with stocks ((i.e i look at the chart lay down my indicators and trade regardless of what is being traded lol..)).

    Check this broker out for great stock/FX charts, tools & scanners;

    http://www.thinkorswim.com/

(I think they have 40-50 FX pairs)

(As an FX trader you may know Prophet Charts... they're owned by this company)...................................

  4. Good theory...even better if you start with good stocks ( at least promising !)  So...how about companies in raw materials? Even with Olympics over , still a huge amount of " earthquake re-building" to do.

    BHP..RIO..PCU..FCX...JRCC...

Energy, nat gas, refiners? ( hurricanes and winter coming) CNQ..HERO..SD..WNR...UNG..EP...

Shippers? ( handling both the materials and the oil )  FRO...NAT...TBSI...DRYS...GNK..GMR

...or get into the Christmas shopping spirit early ..(.if the charts say so ): AAPL...GME...NIKE..

  5. mnc, coa, finl, geoi, eng, dxpe, mlr

  6. If you are a technical trader, just pick a chart and start trading.  What does it matter which one.  If the chart looks good, trade it.
